Welcome to Trichonida Lake, the largest lake in entire Greece and an ecosystem of unique value. Located just 2.5 hours from Athens, this is a destination that is easily accessible for travelers in search of tranquility and invigoration. A wetland that is second to none in the country, with an equally picturesque village that stands out among the rest in the mainland. Psilovrachos village, a small gem of unspoiled beauty perched on top of a steep cliff, serves as the ultimate observatory.<\/p>\n

As a rare ecosystem, Trichonida Lake is part of Natura 2000 network. With well over 140 species of birds and 25 species of fish, amazing flowers and plants, endemic animals and a lot more, the lake is a sight for sore eyes. Within short distance, you are welcome to discover the ancient site of Thermos. This is a somewhat unknown attraction in the area, adding to the overall beauty of the place. As for activities, travelers in the lake are free to indulge in magical activities like paragliding and water cycling, as well as swimming! And those who enjoy strolling around idyllic paths, hiking is an exceptional option.<\/p>\n

At an altitude of 330 meters above sea level, Psilovrachos village (literally translating to Tall Rock) is a marvelous place to be. Overlooking Trichonida Lake, the village was once called Sovolakos and reveals the entire natural beauty of Greek mainland at a glance. There are no more than 80 permanent inhabitants living on site. The famous bridge connecting the regions of Evrytania and Aitoloakarnania is right below the village and you can see the crystalline waters from above.
