Having survived the devastating earthquake of 1965, this church is located in Chora on the northern part of the island. It was built in the 17th century AD and has distinct Venetian influences in its architecture. After all, it is built within the medieval castle of the island. It once served as a monastery, but not any more. Still, the views from the church are truly mesmeric.<\/p>\n

Moving forward, the Chapel of Saint George is found approximately 350 meters above sea level, about 10 miles from Patitiri settlement. This is a lovely place, where there is absolute peace and quiet. Plus, travelers enjoy the cherished views to the sea and the neighboring islets. On the northwestern coast, right next to a marvelous ravine, there is the Church of Saint Constantine. Once you climb the pretty steep path towards the church, you will be 100% compensated for your efforts. The view towards the beach of Vorio Kalami is jaw-dropping. On the north side of the island, Church of Saints Anargyri definitely earns its place within our list of the top Alonnisos churches and chapels to visit. According to the legend, the locals had initially decided to build the church in a different location. However, the miraculous icon disappeared and was found in the very same place where the church is located now. The basilica was once a monastery and nowadays there are two chapels, one side by side, bearing the same name.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Monastery of Kira Panagia is located in the southeastern part of the island. It was built in the 16th century and is dedicated to the Birth of Virgin Mary. There are remains of the old monastery on site, where travelers may see the oil press and the windmill. These are elements showing the past thriving days in the area.
