Kefalas Cave is also known as the Cave of Zeus and is 103 meters long. The cave was used to worship Zeus, which explains its alternative name. It is certainly impressive due to its length, as well as\u00a0the imposing stalactites and stalagmites inside. Just after the Monastery of Saint Catherine, the cave is located within short distance from Pothia. Epta Parthenon Cave is the Cave of the Seven Virgins. It is alternatively known as the Cave of the Seven Nymphs and you will find it in Flaskas area. According to the legend, seven girls used the cave to hide from pirates. Unfortunately, they did not manage to get out of there. Archaeological findings feature offerings to the nymphs and so it is safe to assume that it was used as a sacred place in antiquity. There is a small lake with stairs carved on the stone indoors.<\/p>\n

On the western part of Kalymnos, there is another great attraction to consider. The Cave of the Monastic Cell of Timios Stavros holds an impressive story. Locals from the island explored the cave and found a cross.
