<\/p>\nThere are many Zakynthos churches you should squeeze into your schedule, at least for a quick visit. Fortunately, some of the most popular religious attractions on the island are found in Zakynthos town. So it is easy to combine a stroll at the commercial center of the island, along with some stops to admire the architecture and supreme aesthetics. Of course, as you may already know, Agios Dionysios is the Saint Patron of Zakynthos. And in most pictures depicting the port, you can see the bell tower of Agios Dionysios Church standing tall above all other buildings!<\/p>\n

Then, there is the Church of Agios Nikolaos Molos. This fine church is located in Solomos Square and is the sole building of Venetian style and architecture to survive the terrible earthquake of 1953. As you can imagine, this is a pretty historic monument of the island\u2019s past. It dates back to the 17th century and it used to belong to the Sailors Corporation. Outdoors, you will be able to gaze at the marvelous cobalt blue sea and enjoy the shade of high palm trees.<\/p>\n

The Church of Agios Markos is located next to the Museum of Solomos and Kalvos. This is the only Catholic church in Zakynthos and a structure of fine, all-white aesthetics. And perhaps the most spectacular view from a church in Zakynthos is that of Virgin Skopiotissa Monastery. Back in the day, the Venetians called this place \u201cBelvedere\u201d, due to the mesmerizing views. It is not easy to access the church, but it is definitely worth the trouble. Just be careful and drive slowly, till you reach this wonderful attraction.<\/p>\n

Now, there are many other churches and chapels all over the island, as well as monasteries to visit. But if we were to choose just one, this would be the Church on the Sea. Although it has no name, you cannot miss it. The small church lies by the beach of Agios Nikolaos and is an excellent place to hold romantic weddings and christenings in Zakynthos.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
