There are various sights and attractions there to see, including the ruins of the medieval times. And the landscapes are quite remarkable! Let alone the fact that there is significant historic value in the wider area. Traces of past civilizations, influences from the Monemvasians and of course the Venetian Castle catch your eye and make you fall in love with the place. Especially Kato Chora Mylopotamos boasts an utterly romantic identity and offers visitors a unique experience to treasure.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travel-zone-greece.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Kato-Chora-Mylopotamos-4-1-e1543435856857.jpg\" alt=\"Kato Chora Mylopotamos\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Venetian Castle at Kato Chora Mylopotamos reflects the characteristics of the settlement flourishing after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travel-zone-greece.com\/blog\/journey-paleochora-camp-medieval-kithira\/\">Paleochora<\/a>. It is impressive and offers a glimpse at the medieval era on the island. Indeed, the castle and most of the edifices date back to the 15th century. This means that the architecture is robust and the design is timeless. You will see an abandoned school and a lot of old houses and of course several Byzantine churches on the premises (9 in total!). It is worth noting that most houses are built in two different levels. According to historic findings, fifty families of army men inhabited the castle. They were in charge of its protection, so it goes without even saying why they chose to live close by.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travel-zone-greece.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Kato-Chora-Mylopotamos-e1543435530926.jpg\" alt=\"Kato Chora Mylopotamos\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Kato Chora Mylopotamos is a special place to be in Kithira. And the Venetian Castle, built strategically between hills and with a stunning view to the Ionian Sea, is a wonderful spectacle. Overlooking the blue sea from above and still maintaining its privacy, the castle managed to protect the locals for many years. And it is now one of the most popular things to see in Kithira.
