Those of you who love musicals must have definitely watched <strong>Mamma Mia<\/strong> with the talented Meryl Streep. Along with Skiathos, Skopelos was the island where it was filmed. But besides its verdant environment, the island is also famous for its <strong>360 churches<\/strong> and of course the picturesque villages. And <strong>Chora of Skopelos<\/strong> holds the scepters as the queen, keeping the most valued treasures close!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travel-zone-greece.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Chora-of-Skopelos-1-e1536774899375.jpg\" alt=\"Chora of Skopelos\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Starting from the <strong>Castle<\/strong> and leading all the way to the island&#8217;s port, whitewashed houses with colorful shutters and narrow paved pathways compose the most stunning scenery. Bougainvilleas climb all around the all-white architecture, although one will find influences not only from the <strong>Venetians<\/strong>. There are distinctive houses from Pelion and the Greek mainland, Cyclades and neoclassical mansions. A unique blend of structural beauty is evident, along with the quaint chapels. The island has been named Skopelos most probably by the Cretans and ever since it was inhabited by locals and travelers from other islands. Nowadays, even people from fall in love with the island and become part of its history. Skopelos becomes their new home away from home!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travel-zone-greece.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Chora-of-Skopelos-3-e1536774863472.jpg\" alt=\"Chora of Skopelos\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Among the most notable personalities of the island has been the writer <strong>Pavlos Nirvanas<\/strong>, whose house is located at Chora of Skopelos. It will be open to the public in the near future. The Folklore Museum and the Museum of Cultural Heritage, along with the Photographic Center, are great attractions to visit when in the town.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travel-zone-greece.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Chora-of-Skopelos-2-e1536774880467.jpg\" alt=\"Chora of Skopelos\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of course, once in Chora you cannot help but take in its special charms. The amazing, intoxicating fragrances and the marvelous neighborhoods, the clear blue skies and abundant sunshine, the hospitable locals, the traditional taverns and cafeterias.
