<\/p>\nThe hiking trails of the island of Kythera, located south-east of the Peloponnese, recently became a \u201ctwin\u201d section of the Bruce Trail, Canada\u2019s oldest and longest marked footpath, within the framework of the \u201cFriendship Trails\u201d initiative.<\/p>\n
The official \u201cHiking Friendship\u201d ceremony\u00a0was recently held in Toronto in the presence of George Kasimatis, president of the Kytherian Foundation for Culture and Development, which is currently running the official program for the development of Kythera\u2019s trail network (Kythera Hiking) and representatives of \u00a0Canada\u2019s Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC).<\/p>\n

BTC currently has 10,000 members and includes a network of 900 kilometers, while it has established eight friendship trails with organizations around the world.<\/p>\n
Kythera Hiking\u2019s expanding network currently includes 12 organized and signposted hiking routes, which guide hikers through \u00a0the island\u2019s most scenic locations.<\/p>\n
The \u201cFriendship Trails\u201d initiative is an international program, developed by the World Trails Network, which aims to connect the diverse trails of the world and promote the creation, enhancement, and protection of unique trail experiences.<\/p>\n
\u201cPaths of Greece\u201d also contributed to the creation of the new \u201cfriendship trail\u201d. The organization aims to promote Greek\u00a0tourism through the development of hiking trails in Greece.<\/p>\n
