Located south of Samos, Leipsoi or Lipsi island is a gorgeous place to relax and enjoy that great laid-back atmosphere. With two picturesque harbors and unspoiled landscapes of natural beauty, the island has become synonymous to the ultimate salty daydream. And Leipsoi beaches have played a key role to this reputation. Now people from all over the world visit this tiny island, either as part of their island hopping tour or by itself. Diving in crystalline waters and discovering the true essence of living, it does sound amazing – right?
The closest beach to the settlement and harbor of the island is Lientou. This can be reached on foot, following a trail that takes you about 700 meters away from the center. You will find silky sand and some trees, offering their share to those lucky enough to enjoy such dives. There are also cafes and taverns by the sea, so that you can enjoy an entire day out under the Mediterranean sun. Then, Kambos is definitely one of the most popular Leipsoi beaches. It is long and less than two miles from the port. Again, soft sand and evergreen trees compose a wonderful place to visit.
Chochlakoura or Hohlakoura is a different kind of beach. Here the scenery is fiercer, with white rocks and pebbles all around. But the water is equally transparent and the beach is filled with treasures to explore. Right above the beach, you will see Panagia Harou. This is the protector of the island (celebrating every year on August 23rd). And a little further away lies Tourkomnima beach. Another secluded bay with small pebbles, overlooking the quaint chapel of Agios Stathis.
Platis Gialos is one of the finest Leipsoi beaches, with golden sand and some trees again. It literally translates to Wide Shore and its size justifies its name. Then there is Katsadia beach, Papantria and Monodendri. Any beach on the island is a splendid adventure, opening up to you for unique experiences. Are you ready?
