First of all, Pachia Ammos is probably the most popular beach in Nisyros. Its name means Thick Sand and one you are there you know why. This is a lovely place to be, if you want to relax and enjoy the unspoiled scenery. The beach is located in the eastern part of the island, less than 10 miles from Mandraki. In order to reach Pachia Ammos, you will need to walk on a pretty steep pathway on the hills surrounding it. But the landscape compensates you for any discomfort, for sure!

On the northeastern part of Nisyros, Lyes beach (or else Lies) is a wonderful spectacle. Just three kilometers from Pali, this is another impressive beach aiming at pure and utter relaxation. One thing Lyes beach is well known for is its significant length, as it stretches for over a mile! As you may have noticed, most beaches in Nisyros are not organized and therefore you are encouraged to take with you water, snacks and anything else you might need during the day.

Moving on with the finest Nisyros beaches, we come across Chochlaki beach. Its name derives from the distinctive pebbles on the shore and the sea bed. They are like little gems, composing a splendid landscape to cherish. This is the closest beach to Nisyros Town and so it is a popular destination for those choosing to stay there. If you are lucky, you will find a spot under the tall trees and enjoy their generous shade.

Gialiskari beach is located north, just two kilometers from Mandraki and on the way to Pali. Although now Gialiskari boasts its coarse, dark sand, in the past things were different. Due to pumice mined in the area, the coast had turned white and this is its former name. Even now, this is an idyllic place to be on the island. And finally, Katsouni is the island’s largest beach. Within short distance from Cape Katsouni, this is a wonderful beach for those who wish to combine a visit to this natural site and then relax.
