The Mesmerizing Nimborio in Chalki

Chalki is a lovely island of Dodecanese, with a name that derives from Chalkos (meaning Copper). This was a prominent material found along the island in the past, which explains where the name came from. Now, the capital of the island and main port is none other than Nimborio. A neoclassical settlement built amphitheatrically above sea level. Ever since the locals faced the threats of pirates and came to realize they should not be afraid, they moved from the older settlement and former capital Chorio to Nimborio. Closer to the sea, closer to the harbor, closer to communication and trade, fishing and maritime.
