Naxos is the largest Cycladic island and one of the top destinations each summer. A place of whitewashed houses and cobbled streets, historic monuments revealing a long-lasting culture and majestic landscapes, great gastronomy and so much more. And of course, among the highlights of visiting Naxos the beautiful coastline with the welcoming Naxos beaches inviting you to enjoy a day out in the sun…and then another one, and another one…
Starting out at Chora, within short walking distance from the picturesque harbor lies perhaps the most popular beach of the island. Agios Georgios is a lengthy sandy beach, where you can enjoy the sun and the shallow crystalline waters. It is perfect for families, as well as for those who prefer beach bars and cocktails as the waves gently touch their feet. On site you can also engage in fun water sports, while there are some truly marvelous fish taverns on the waterfront. Then, there is the famous Agios Prokopios beach. A long and sandy beach that stretches for over a mile and provides the ultimate retreat. Although the beach is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas, water sports facilities and bars, this does not mean that there are not isolated spots for those preferring to relax and enjoy the idyllic scenery.
Plaka and Agia Anna also rank among the finest Naxos beaches to visit, once you are on the island. Plaka boasts its crystalline waters and chic parasols, with Agia Anna being on the same coastline along with Agios Prokopios. There is a small fishing port at Agia Anna, alongside some truly fabulous rocky formations that will capture your attention. Agia Anna is a fishing resort, so you should try the fish and seafood while you visit the place.
Besides these wonderful beaches of Naxos, you should also look out for Mikri Vigla and Aliko, Pyrgaki and Orkos, Kastraki and Agiassos. Some are organized, others depict the very essence of remote and utter haven. But they all have something in common, as they are all bound to rock your world!
