You can reach the amazing island ofFolegandros is by sea.The reason why the island does not have an airport is due to the fact that the locals want to preserve the island with its traditional Cycladic features.
Regular ferries operate from Piraeus port (the main port of Athens) throughout the year and during the summer on a regular basis. The ferry trip depending on the stops can last up to 11 hours. It is best to book your ferry with a designated seat as this is can be a long ferry trip.

During the summer season there are fast-ferries (hydrofoils) that minimize the trip to approximately a 4 hour trip. In this case the fast-ferry will also have stops on the Cycladic islands of Sifnos, Milos, Santorini, Amorgos , Naxos, Paros and Sifnos.
