Athens Hosts World Travel Awards 2018. And the Oscar goes to…

Europe’s finest travel brands have been unveiled at World Travel Awards (WTA) Europe Gala Ceremony 2018 in Athens, Greece. Hundreds of the leading figures of Europe’s travel and tourism industry attended the ceremony at a red carpet gala, which was staged at the historic Zappeion Megaron Hall. Graham Cooke, Founder & President, World Travel Awards, said: “What an evening it has been here in the incredible city of Athens, Greece. It has been an honour to partner with HotelBrain, under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Tourism, City of Athens and Greek National Tourism Organisation – and we thank everyone here in Athens for their support in bringing WTA to their amazing city.”

It was a big day for Greek tourism as Greece’s resurgent tourist economy was recognised with the Greek National Tourism Organisation winning “Europe’s Leading National Tourism Strategy & Campaign”, whilst Lesante Blu Exclusive Beach Resort was named “Europe’s Leading New Resort”. But these are only some of the awards that made Greece stand out. The city of Athens and the Athens Convention Bureau won the “Europe’s Leading City Break Destination 2018” and the “Europe’s Leading City Tourist Board 2018” respectively. What a great way for Greek tourism to start the season.
